Join the Fight to Defeat ALS at the 13th Annual Tee Up to CURE ALS

by | Aug 3, 2021

Paul Tavano was diagnosed with ALS in August of 2009 after experiencing weakness in his hands and muscle spasms. In the midst of this news, Paul and his wife Kathy did not lose hope and instead took action. “I am convinced that there has to be a reason God chose me to deal with this disease. I believe the reason is to raise awareness of and ultimately help find a cure for ALS,” Paul shared.

The Drive to CURE ALS

As the Tavano family embarked on their new ALS journey, their friends looked for ways to get involved in the fight against ALS. Paul saw this as an opportunity to channel their passion and shortly after, Tee Up to CURE ALS was born.

“I was very adamant that I didn’t want it to be for me, and that I wanted it to be towards research.” Like many others, their hope is to one day live in a world without this terrible disease.

Through the years, other ALS families – and their friends – have joined in the fight for a cure. They come to honor and remember their loved ones. They return each year in support the Tavano’s effort to fund ALS research.

It’s Time to Tee Up to CURE ALS

In 2022, Paul and Kathy are excited to gather in-person for the 13th Annual Tee Up to CURE ALS tournament. This year’s tournament is dedicated to the memory of ALS Hero Eleanor McSwain. All proceeds from this event will benefit critical research for a cure for ALS.

“The hope is that the dollars we raise will be the ones that spur the research that will develop the treatment to extend the life of those who have the disease. It may or may not help me, but it will help someone down the line. I hope that somehow, someway we have been able to make a difference, and hopefully, we will be able to see that difference,” said Paul.

The 13th Annual Tee Up to CURE ALS golf tournament is September 17, 2022. Join us at the Bear Creek Golf Club in Dallas, Texas for an exciting golf tournament, lunch, and prize ceremony.
