The ALS Association Introduces New Mission Integration Concept at the Walk to Defeat ALS
Each year, hundreds of thousands of people across the country bring their determination, energy, and passion to the Walk to Defeat ALS to celebrate the progress made in the search for a cure with the ALS community. This year, we’ll honor our loved ones who are battling ALS and who have battled ALS through our new program UNLOCK ALS.
We’ll celebrate the real possibility of unlocking the mysteries of ALS. Anyone may hold the key to UNLOCK ALS – a fundraiser raising funds for the cure, a person with ALS participating in a clinical trial, a researcher developing treatments, even you.
You’ll experience the ALS community like never before by connecting with people through your unique ALS story. Each participant will receive a colored lanyard with a Walk-logoed key symbolizing his or her connection to ALS.
Participants will be able to take a moment to write messages to loved ones with ALS or about loved ones on paper keys. The keys will be hung in a tribute tent to remind participants of how many loved ones have faced or are currently facing ALS and why their involvement is so important.
It brings every person together, unified in a true commitment to the fight against ALS. The lanyards help people show how they’re engaged with the cause and connect with others who have similar experiences.
UNLOCK ALS showcases our commitment to unlocking the barriers to effective and compassionate care; to unlocking the physical constraints, which threaten people’s everyday existence; and to unlocking the medical mysteries, which will someday lead us to a cure.
